Energy Efficient Codes Coalition (EECC) is a diverse set of state and local governments, energy efficiency advocates, energy consumers, environmental groups and industry experts joined forces in mid-2007, creating the Energy Efficient Codes Coalition to mount a comprehensive, integrated effort to achieve an initial 30% boost in the energy efficiency of the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) over its 2006 counterpart. After seeing 55 out of its 80 recommendations and 13 of the 21 elements of its comprehensive proposal (“The 30% Solution”) adopted by the International Code Council (ICC)’s voting members at the ICC Final Action Hearings—producing energy efficiency gains estimated at national average of 12.2% or more—the EECC has begun work to consolidate its gains and achieve the remainder of the 30% goal in the 2010 IECC Supplement. [For more information, see the EECC website].
The EPA's Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program that supports the organizational procurement of green power by offering expert advice, technical support, tools and resources. CRS has qualified to be part of the 100% Green Power Purchaser list, which represents those organizations that are buying green power to meet 100 percent of their U.S. organization-wide electricity use. Partnering with EPA can help your organization lower the transaction costs of buying green power, reduce its carbon footprint, and communicate its leadership to key stakeholders. Green power is electricity produced from a subset of renewable resources, such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and low-impact hydro. Buying green power is one of the easiest and most effective ways to improve your organization’s environmental performance. [For more information, see the GPP website].
