SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 1, 2006)-- The
Green-e Program of the Center for Resource Solutions announced today
that CoolWattssm Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) sold
by NativeEnergy, LLC are now Green-e Certified.
NativeEnergy was founded in 2000 to bring
new renewables to market. NativeEnergy is now expanding its
services to support operating wind farms across the country through
Green-e certified REC sales.
"We are very proud to add Green-e certified
products to our portfolio of high quality renewable energy solutions,"
says President & CEO Tom Boucher. "We recognize that demand
for renewable energy has many faces, and we are pleased to offer the
best variety of solutions available in the market. Everyone who wants
to help put the brakes on global warming and help kick our fossil fuel
addiction should visit us at nativeenergy.com."
In keeping with its track record for attracting prominent
brands and organizations, NativeEnergy is launching its Green-e
certified CoolWattssm
service as the electricity offset program of choice for the national
RenewUS campaign launched this week on www.RenewUS.org.
The RenewUS campaign, developed by Stonyfield Farm, Clean Air-Cool Planet,
and Earth Day Network, is intended to engage consumers to rally to purchase
clean energy to help clean our nation's energy supply to avert the impending
climate crisis. NativeEnergy 's CoolWattssm
service allows individuals to green-up their electricity purchases by
supporting new wind farms that reduce the burning of coal and other
fossil fuels that would otherwise be required. By displacing the need
to burn these fuels, new wind farms help reduce global warming pollution.
With Green-e certification, NativeEnergy's CoolWattssm
business customers are able to use the Green-e logo on their product
labels, or to earn LEED points for certification by the U.S. Green Building
Council.
"Through the purchase of NativeEnergy's
CoolWattssm
product, consumers support the generation of wind power" said Siobhan
Doherty, Green-e Representative for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions.
"Green-e certification means corporate, government and residential customers
who buy NativeEnergy's CoolWattssm
renewable energy certificates can be confident they are receiving the
environmental benefits associated with renewable power generation."
Green-e is the national symbol for renewable energy excellence. Green-e
provides independent, third-party certification to ensure renewable
energy products meet strict environmental and consumer protection standards.
Providers of Green-e certified renewable energy agree to abide by the
Green-e Code of Conduct, and meet Green-e disclosure and truth-in-advertising
requirements.
Green-e's annual verification documents that the
company purchased or generated enough quantity and type of renewable
energy to meet customer demand and marketing claims and protects customers
from paying for renewable energy that is "double sold" to
other customers or used simultaneously to meet regulatory mandates.
Through the Green-e logo, growing numbers of consumers are able to easily
identify high quality renewable energy that they can trust, as well
as everyday consumer products that are "Made with Certified Renewable
Energy."
