Green-e Energy Certifies Energy Plus Green Option

Energy Plus Customers Can Sign Up for a Certified Renewable Energy Option

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (December 2, 2008)—The Center for Resource Solutions announced today that Energy Plus™ will offer a national renewable energy certificate (REC) product "the Energy Plus Green Option," that is now Green-e Energy™ Certified. Energy Plus joins the growing network of renewable energy providers that offer products certified by Green-e Energy, the nation's leading certification and verification program for renewable energy.

"We are very pleased to announce that Energy Plus will participate in Green-e Energy by offering a certified REC product to its customers," said Green-e Program Analyst and Legal Specialist Robin Quarrier. "By creating the Energy Plus Green Option program, Energy Plus has made it even easier for homeowners, businesses, and institutions nationwide to reduce the environmental impact of the electricity they use."

Energy Plus can now offer its customers RECs to offset 100 percent of their electricity consumption. By purchasing the Energy Plus Green Option, customers will support currently available renewable resources as well as aid the development of new renewable resources in the U.S.

We are committed to contributing to a cleaner environment and are thrilled to be participating in the leading certification program for renewable energy options," said Kevin Kleinschmidt, president of Energy Plus. "Our customers will now have a low-cost way to help support the environment through their everyday electricity use. Our certified product is just one of the ways that we provide our customers with the most innovative value-added services and benefits available."

Green-e Energy is the leading renewable energy certification and verification program in the U.S., with over 220 participating vendors selling nearly 15.7 million MWh of renewable energy in 2007-over 65% of all renewable energy sold on the voluntary market. The program provides independent, third-party certification to ensure certified renewable energy meets strict environmental and consumer protection standards.

Providers of Green-e Energy Certified renewable energy agree to abide by the Green-e Energy Code of Conduct, and meet strict disclosure and truth-in-advertising requirements. All marketers of Green-e Energy Certified products undergo an annual verification audit to document that the company purchased and/or generated enough quantity and type of renewable energy to meet customer demand and marketing claims.

The Green-e logo, the national symbol for renewable energy excellence, enables a growing number of consumers to easily identify high quality, certified renewable energy options, as well as everyday consumer products that are produced by companies that use renewable energy in their operations.
