SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 1, 2009)—Center for Resource Solutions announced today that Sustainable Manufacturing Summit 2009 will be a Green-e® Marketplace Certified event by purchasing enough Green-e Certified renewable energy to meet 100% of the event's electricity needs. As a member of Green-e Marketplace, Sustainable Manufacturing Summit 2009 can now display the Green-e logo to inform attendees they purchased 100% Green-e Certified renewable energy for the event.

We are very excited to have such a diverse group of manufacturers coming to Chicago to talk about the move to sustainable manufacturing," said Adrienne Baker, Producer for Green Power Conferences. "We are equally pleased to be working with Green-e to make this event sustainable as well."

This second annual event will examine the latest developments in sustainability for manufacturers of all sectors. It offers access to the corporate executives and green thought leaders steering the transformation to sustainable and cost-efficient manufacturing. "CRS welcomes Sustainable Manufacturing Summit 2009 as a Green-e Marketplace member and renewable energy leader. We are very pleased that the conference has taken steps to align its theme of sustainability with its own event practices," said Orrin Cook, Senior Analyst at Center for Resource Solutions.

The Sustainable Manufacturing Summit will display the Green-e logo, the national symbol for renewable energy excellence, to help its attendees identify the event venue as using certified renewable energy. Electricity generated from renewable sources results in less environmental waste and pollution and displaces other non-renewable sources from the electric grid. To become a Green-e Marketplace Certified event, organizers purchase electricity generated from nearly emissions-free renewable sources. This helps avoid carbon dioxide emissions and serves to build the market for renewable energy nationwide, increasing the incentives for building new facilities. Currently, renewable energy accounts for only about two percent of total electricity generation nationwide.

The RECs purchased by Green Power Conferences were certified by Green-e Energy, the leading renewable energy certification and verification program in the U.S. The program provides independent, third-party certification to ensure certified renewable energy meets strict environmental and consumer protection standards, including ensuring renewable energy is sourced from verified, new facilities; not double-counted towards any state's renewable energy goal; and retired on behalf of the purchaser. By joining Green-e Marketplace, Sustainable Manufacturing Summit 2009 is submitting to auditing procedures that verify that the organization's renewable energy purchase is equivalent to 100% electricity use at the event.
