Stakeholder Comment Period Open for Green-e Climate Endorsement of Climate Action Reserve

Dear Green-e Climate Stakeholders,

Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) is pleased to invite stakeholders to comment on the proposed Green-e Climate endorsement of the Climate Action Reserve.

Comment forms and information about the Climate Action Reserve's adherence to the Green-e Climate Standard are available at Green-e Climate Endorsed Programs.

The Climate Action Reserve is a national offsets program working to ensure integrity, transparency and financial value in the U.S. carbon market. It does this by establishing regulatory-quality standards for the development, quantification and verification of greenhouse gas emissions reduction projects in North America; issuing carbon offset credits known as Climate Reserve Tonnes generated from such projects; and tracking the transaction of credits over time in a transparent, publicly accessible system.

The specific principles and criteria that Endorsed Programs must meet are outlined in the Green-e Climate Standard. Based on comments received during this stakeholder consultation, the Green-e Governance Board will make a determination on the proposed endorsement of the Climate Action Reserve.

Green-e Climate is a consumer protection program that certifies GHG emission reduction products (offsets) sold in the voluntary market. Certification under Green-e Climate ensures that no double selling of offsets occurs, that no false claims about products are made, and that consumers are informed about the offset products they are purchasing. Sellers of Green-e Climate certified products are only able to source GHG emission reductions from programs endorsed by Green-e Climate, its stakeholders, and the Green-e Governance Board.

More information about how Green-e Climate, and how it interacts with Endorsed Programs, can be found on the Green-e Climate website at www.green-e.org/climate.

Stakeholder comments are due by February 10, 2010.
