Wood Trim in the Conference Room
The wood used for the Conference Room doors is lakebed salvage douglas
fir. A century ago, after large trees had been cut, they were often floated
across lakes and down rivers to reach the sawmills. A certain number
of these logs got loose and eventually sank to the bottom of the lake
where they stayed for a century. Today, they are being brought to the
surface, dried and used (much better than decaying in the bottom of a
lake). The wood trim on the dividers is from sustainably grown and harvested
timber.

Environ® Biocomposite
Countertop in Entry
The countertop in the entry of the new CRS building uses Environ® Biocomposite,
a decorative interior material that respects the environment by using
recycled paper products, a soy-based resin system, and color additives.
One of the many environmental benefits of the Phenix Environ® product
line is that each ton of recycled newsprint used in their material conserves
3 cubic yards of landfill. Recycling this type of material uses 70% less
energy and decreases air pollution emissions up to 73%.
